Join us to learn more about OSHA’s current philosophy of enhanced inspections, the status of several important issues to the industry such as sweep augers, boot pits, PRCS, hazard communication, and the rights and actions an employer can take prior to an inspection, during an inspection and after an inspection.

8:15 - 9:30am - Update on Emerging and Evolving Regulatory Issues-Speaker: Jess McCluer, VP Safety & Regulatroy Affairs

Overview of several current topics including the New administration and OSHA, increased fines, injury and illness recordkeeping, combustable dust (revised NFPA Standards), top OSHA citations in general and grain handling and regulatory reform.

Update on Food Safety and Modernization Act Requirements - Speaker: Jim Seibert- Manager, Regulatory Affairs, Education & Training

The session will focus on FDA’s Final Rule for CGMP and Preventative Controls for Animal Food and Sanitary Transportation of Food.

9:45 - 11:30am - Cracking the new Walking and Working Surface Regulation- Speaker: Jim Seibert, Manager, Regulatory Affairs Education and Training
This session will focus on Understanding Walking & Working Surfaces Final Rule, training requirements, Subpart D: Revision to Fixed ladders, staircases, handrails, starrails, guardrails, fall protection program, rolling stock fall protection. 

11:30am - 12:30pm - LUNCH

12:30 pm- 1:30pm - Electrical Safety- Speaker: LO/TO

This session will cover lockout/tag-out policy and procedures/inspections, exposure to electrical energy, multiple vs. single energy sources, Dust hazardous locations, GFCI considerations, D/T Sampler.

1:30 -  2:30pm - Bin Entry and the Boot Pit Discussion- Speakers: Jess McCluer, VP Sfarety and Regulatory Affairs & Jim Seibert, Manager, Regulatory Affairs, Education and Training
This session will cover what the issue is, how you define confined space and how OSHA does as well, mitigating the potential for hazards to exsist, creating entry as the “last resort mentally”, Bin entry permits; a step list which helps identify and mitigate risks prior to entry, Safe practices, and augers; sweep, subfloor, and side discharge. 

2:30 - 2:45pm - BREAK

2:45 - 3:30pm - Overview of OSHA Region- Grain Handling Local Emphasis Program- Speaker: Area Office Director

This session will cover Regional and Area Inspection Data, OSHA policy on Grain related issues.

3:30 - 4:30pm - Panel Discussion- OSHA, NGFA, and State/ Regional Affiliate
